Help with Saylo
Email support@saylo.dev with what happened and your macOS version. Most problems are solved by one of the steps below.
The hotkey does nothing
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and make sure Saylo is switched on. If it is not in the list, click + and choose Saylo from Applications.
- Check the hotkey in Saylo's Settings (Right Option by default) and that “Enable dictation” is on.
- Quit Saylo from its menu bar icon and open it again.
Downloaded from saylo.dev, and Accessibility is already on? macOS ties the permission to each build. Click Fix permission in Saylo's Settings, then switch Saylo on again.
Saylo can't hear me
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and switch Saylo on. If you use an external microphone, check that it is the input selected in System Settings → Sound. A virtual audio device such as BlackHole or Loopback selected as the input is silent, so Saylo hears nothing.
Text doesn't appear in an app
Saylo types by pasting. Click into a text field first so the cursor is visible, then dictate. If one app never accepts the text, email us its name.
Using it
- Hold the hotkey to talk and release to type. Tap it once for hands-free mode, and tap again to finish. Esc cancels.
- Say “new paragraph”, “new line” or “question mark” to place them yourself.
- Add names and jargon under Settings → Vocabulary so they are spelled right.
- On Apple silicon, Settings → Models offers a larger, more accurate model and a Neural Engine option that types your words about twice as fast.
Where Saylo keeps its files
- Mac App Store version:
~/Library/Containers/com.aditya.saylo - Direct download:
~/Library/Application Support/Saylo
Settings, history and downloaded models live there. To remove everything, quit Saylo, move it to the Trash and delete that folder.
